Grande Lum joined Cary McClelland in moderating a panel entitled “Reparations and Racial Justice in California and Beyond,” as part of the conference on Rethinking Systems Design for Racial Justice & Equity. This session featured several academics discussing their research into reparations and racial justice initiatives across the United States.

Neil Levine gave a talk on America’s Peacemakers at an event hosted by the Kroc Instiitute for Peace and Justice at the University of San Diego. The talk was was moderated by Rachel Locke, the Director of Impact:Peace. Impact: Peace works with change makers in the peacebuilding and violence prevention space, harnessing knowledge, evidence and research to super-charge processes that can make a meaningful difference in advancing peace.

Grande Lum moderated a panel entitled “A Moonshot Moment” at the Silicon Valley Sculpture 2021. This panel is part of 5-day event that includes performance art that draws attention to pressing issues facing the Silicon Valley community, such as privacy, equality, displacement. The opening plenary session of Association of Family and Conciliation Courts’ 58th Annual Conference featured Grande Lum, who served as Director of the US Department of Justice’s Community Relations Service (CRS) under then-President Barack Obama. Last year, Mr. Lum published America's Peacemakers: The Community Relations Service and Civil Rights, which examines 50 years of civil rights conflicts from inside the agency and explains the momentous impact of the agency.

The UC Hastings Center for Negotiation and Dispute Resolution's (CNDR) New Frontiers in ADR Series hosted co-author of “America’s Peacemakers,” Grande Lum, Provost of Menlo College and former Director of CNDR. This book tells the story of the federal agency within the Department of Justice that assists and mediates in communities as they reconcile and recover from discrimination, hate crimes, and unrest based on issues like race and religion.
